About Me
My CCN story!
In June 2023, at just 16 years old, I noticed something that stopped me in my tracks. Walking down the hair care aisle, only a small portion of the space was dedicated to products for coils, curls, and tight-textured hair. When I did find products, many were filled with harsh, unpronounceable ingredients or priced far beyond what felt fair. As someone with 4C coils, this hit close to home.
Instead of accepting it, I decided to create a solution.
Crowned Coils Naturals was born from my commitment to organic ingredients, my desire to make quality hair and body care affordable, and my passion for celebrating natural coils—especially 4C hair. Before launching, I spent months researching, formulating products, learning marketing, handling trademarks, forming an LLC, setting up finances, and even teaching myself how to code so I could build my own website.
What started as a personal need quickly became a mission to serve others who faced the same struggle.
Our flagship Hair Butter was carefully created to reduce breakage and shedding, lock in moisture, fight dandruff, support healthy hair growth, reduce split ends, and provide antibacterial benefits. What truly sets Crowned Coils Naturals apart is our transparency and quality. We use 100% certified organic butters, 100% natural herbs, and cold-pressed oils to preserve nutrients—so every product is pure, safe, and effective.
Balancing high school life while building a business wasn’t easy. It meant late nights, countless kitchen experiments, and a constant push to improve. But every step shaped Crowned Coils Naturals into what it is today: a brand rooted in authenticity, education, and genuine care for natural hair.
Crowned Coils Naturals is more than a business. It’s a labor of love, a statement of self-acceptance, and a way to empower people to understand what they put in their hair—without breaking the bank.
With every jar or bottle, you’re not just supporting a brand. You’re supporting a young entrepreneur’s journey, passion, and commitment to making a real difference. Together, we celebrate coils, curls, tight textures, and the beauty of embracing who we truly are.
Frequently asked questions?
Who can use Crowned Coils Naturals products?
Our products are made for all hair types and textures, from straight to wavy, curly, coily, and everything in between. We focus on moisture, balance, and ingredient quality rather than targeting one specific hair type or porosity level.
Because everyone’s hair is different, we design our formulas to be layerable and buildable. This means you can adjust how much product you use and how often you apply it based on what your hair needs, without being locked into strict rules.
Whether your hair is fine or thick, loose or tightly coiled, in its natural state or worn in protective styles like twists, braids, or locs, our products are meant to support hydration, softness, and manageability without weighing hair down or causing buildup when used as directed.
The goal isn’t to fit your hair into a category — it’s to help you learn what works best for you, with products that are flexible, effective, and easy to use.
Are all of our Ingredients Natural?
We use mostly natural ingredients, and we want to be very transparent about that.
At Crowned Coils Naturals, the heart of our formulas comes from nature — cold-pressed oils, organic herbs, botanical powders, organic mango butter, raw honey, aloe vera, and plant-based extracts. These are the ingredients that do the real nourishing work for your hair and skin.
That said, some products also include a small number of safe, cosmetic-grade ingredients that are not considered fully “natural,” such as BTMS-25, cetyl alcohol, xanthan gum, and phenoxyethanol. We include these intentionally and responsibly, not to cut corners, but to make sure our products are safe, stable, and effective for you.
We choose these ingredients for very specific reasons:
BTMS-25 helps oil and water blend together and gives conditioners and creams their smooth, creamy texture. Without it, water and oils would separate quickly.
Cetyl alcohol is a fatty alcohol derived from plants. It helps soften hair and skin and improves moisture retention. It is not drying and is very different from harsh alcohols like ethanol.
Xanthan gum is a plant-derived thickener that helps stabilize products and improve texture.
Phenoxyethanol is a preservative used in very small amounts to prevent bacteria, mold, and yeast growth in products that contain water. Any water-based product requires a preservative to stay safe for use.
What is mango butter and what does it do?
What is mango butter and what does it do?
Mango butter is a natural butter made from the seed of the mango fruit, and it’s one of our favorite ingredients because of how well it supports both hair and skin. It’s naturally rich in fatty acids, antioxidants, and vitamins like A and E, which help nourish, soften, and protect.
One of mango butter’s biggest benefits is its ability to seal in moisture. It helps strengthen the hair and skin barrier, which is the outer layer that keeps hydration in and dryness out. When that barrier is supported, hair and skin are better able to stay soft, smooth, and balanced.
Mango butter also helps smooth the hair cuticle, reduce dryness and frizz, and add a healthy-looking shine without feeling heavy or greasy. On skin, it helps improve softness and comfort by reducing moisture loss and supporting long-lasting hydration.
We choose organic mango butter because it’s effective yet gentle, works across many hair types and textures, and delivers moisture without buildup when used correctly. A little truly goes a long way, especially when applied to damp hair or freshly hydrated skin.
What are Cold-pressed oils?
Cold-pressed oils are oils that are extracted without using heat or harsh chemicals. Instead of being processed at high temperatures, the oil is gently pressed out of the plant or seed, which helps preserve its natural nutrients.
Because no heat is used, cold-pressed oils keep more of their natural vitamins, fatty acids, and antioxidants. This means they stay closer to how the oil exists in nature and can better support moisture, softness, and overall hair and skin health.
We choose cold-pressed oils because they absorb well, help seal in moisture, and provide nourishment without weighing hair or skin down. They also tend to be gentler, making them a great option for many hair types, textures, and skin needs.
In simple terms, cold-pressed oils are less processed, more nutrient-rich, and more effective at delivering the natural benefits your hair and skin need.
How often should I be using products in my hair?
As a general rule of thumb, most hair products should be used every other day, not daily. This helps prevent product buildup, which can lead to itchiness, irritation, and the need for a clarifying or cleansing shampoo to remove excess product.
This is especially important with thicker products or formulas with a higher viscosity, like butters and creams. These types of products don’t evaporate or disappear over time. Instead, they sit on the hair and scalp, and when too much is applied too often, buildup can occur.
Protective styles such as twists or braids need extra care. Since these styles can stay in the hair for weeks, using too much product can cause residue, flaking, or a white cast — no matter how clean or high-quality the product is. Buildup can also shorten how long you’re able to comfortably keep the style in.
Using small amounts, spacing out application days, and focusing on moisture rather than overloading the hair helps keep your hair and scalp comfortable, healthy, and your protective styles looking fresh for longer.
Why are your prices lower than other “natural” brands?
Crowned Coils Naturals was created because of a real experience I had as a customer. Every time I went into stores looking for products that actually worked for my hair and skin, I noticed the same thing — the prices were high, not because of what was inside the jar, but because of the label on the front. Words like “organic” and “natural” came with a markup that didn’t always match the ingredients.
That didn’t sit right with me.
As a small business, I take pride in keeping my products fairly priced for what they truly contain. We use high-quality ingredients like organic, unprocessed butters, pure oils, and natural herbs because they work — not because they sound good on a label. I believe you shouldn’t have to choose between quality and affordability.
Even as a small business, we offer generous sizes and thoughtfully formulated products without inflating prices just to follow industry trends. My goal has always been simple: make effective, nourishing hair and skin care accessible, honest, and reasonably priced.
With Crowned Coils Naturals, you’re paying for the ingredients, the care, and the intention — not the hype.
